AREAS OF PRACTICE
Naveen joined Lloyds PR in January 2018. He deals with Crown Court cases on an ad hoc basis where he specialises in analysing telephone evidence in complex criminal matters. In cases where the volume of evidence is extensive and intricate, he carefully dissects the prosecution’s case and assist counsel in the weaknesses of the Crown’s case. As a keen defence lawyer, he ensures that the Crown’s evidence is scrutinised minutely in order for the clients to have the best possible chance in challenging the allegations. As an extension to the Crown Court work, he makes representation to the Senior Courts Cost Office of the High Court when legal aid claims are in dispute. Since dealing with cost appeals, Naveen has successfully appealed multiple Crown Court cases before the High Court. In addition, being an attorney-at-law in Sri Lanka, he manages Lloyds PR’s outsourced operation of in Colombo.

Complex money laundering matter involving the illegal export of cash in airline baggage. The trial has been adjourned due to the prevailing pandemic.

Challenging the prosecution’s telephone evidence using served cell site data to argue that the client was not in the vicinity of the alleged murder.

Successful appeal at the High Court to secure a landmark decision when getting remunerated for differently sized pages under the Crow Court graduated fee scheme.
